Bluff Oyster season arrives at the Viaduct

 

March 1 officially marked the start of the Bluff oyster season, sparking excitement from seasoned shuckers to high-calibre connoisseurs and inexperienced diners alike. Auckland’s Princes Wharf has become a hive of activity, offering master classes, live music, and drink and dining specials set to entice locals and tourists. Here is just a sample of the mollusc centred activity scheduled for March 2018!

Bluff Meat Beer

Whats not to love about the delicious intertwining of chilled beer and porcelain oysters? The creative geniuses behind Panhead Beer are serving up a storm; three brimming courses paired with a selection of their quality beverages — from the malty pilsners to the crisp and bold pale ales.Thursday 14th March, 6pm on,  The Culpeper.

Great Bluff Lunch  Delight in the luxury of a delicious five-course oyster-heavy meal selection, complete with Crayfish, whitebait and other delectable seafood accompaniments.  – along with free champagne! Thursday 15th March, 12pm-3pm,  Euro

Whisky and Oyster Master Class

Let yourself be guided through a whiskey tasting with a professional mixologist whilst talented chef and oyster farmer Gareth Stewart shows the shucking ropes. Tuesday 20th March; 6pm-8pm,  Coley and Punch

The Oyster & Music Festival
There’s no better oyster than a free oyster, and the first 200 dozen are exactly that. Late to the party? Don’t fret, there will also be a bevy of entertainment — from DJs Phoebe Falconer and Kate Elliot laying down some beats to oyster shucking competitions to get involved with.
