Doubletree by Hilton debuts in Wellington

Wellington’s first DoubleTree by Hilton hotel has opened in the iconic T&G building, in the heart of the central business district. Located on Lambton Quay, in the city’s premier shopping area, the hotel is just walking distance from the iconic cable car, vibrant cafes, the parliamentary precinct, entertainment venues, and the celebrated Te Papa Museum. The 106-room hotel is managed by Hilton, under a franchise agreement with Sarin Investments.

DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington joins two other DoubleTree branded properties in New Zealand, which are located in Queenstown and Christchurch. “Opening a DoubleTree by Hilton property in the country’s capital is a huge milestone and really represents the brand’s confidence in the continued growth of the Wellington market, and reinforces our commitment to double Hilton’s footprint in New Zealand within the next five years.” said Heidi Kunkel, vice president, operations, Australasia.

The historic T&G building, which was built in 1928, was one of the city’s first office towers. The hotel design complements the rich history of the building; attributing Chicago-style architectural elements and fine art deco interiors with marble, copper and wooden accents throughout. The property features 106 stylish guest rooms, including 14 spacious suites, all accessible with digital key through the Hilton Honors app, a restaurant, a bar, a gymnasium, secure parking and a boardroom.

Spring Bar and Restaurant is an invitation to embrace the art of fusion dining with exquisite Asian inspired dishes, fine wines & glamorous cocktails in central Wellington. Spring is where eastern flavours meet western techniques to create mouth-watering fusion plates like the signature Angus tenderloin steak with masala kale.

General Manager, Mads Nielsen, says the hotel is in a fantastic building with rich history and in a perfect location for both business and leisure travellers. “We look forward to welcoming guests and extending them an exceptional experience that is distinctive to Wellington whilst also bearing all the hallmarks of Hilton hospitality.”

DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington is part of Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest-loyalty programme for Hilton’s 14 distinct hotel brands. Members who book directly have access to instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider that allows members to choose nearly any combination of points and money to book a stay, an exclusive member discount, free standard Wi-Fi and the Hilton Honors mobile app.
