National Cake Show Scheduled for October

Do you love turning a cake into a masterpiece?

If you answered yes, or you know of someone who lives and breathes cake decorating, then get them to visit https://www.pettinice.com/cakeshow/.

For the first time in New Zealand, Pettinice is launching a national cake show and cake decorating competition for all skill levels with winners in each category – beginning, intermediate and advanced -taking home cash prizes and products. There is over $7000 in prizes to be won.

The Pettinice Cake Show and competition will take place in Auckland on October 19 and 20 and is open to the public. It will offer a full weekend packed with demonstrations and workshops by local and international cake decorators, competition entry displays and activities for children.

Each year the Pettinice Cake Show and competition will set a new theme, beginning with its inaugural year, Cake Art – a famous or published piece of art recreated by the cake decorator through their own interpretation.

International winning cake decorator, Pettinice Ambassador and NZ Bakels representative, Nina Blackburn says: “We want to give decorators a platform, an opportunity to try new techniques, test new things that are on the market or hone in on a skillset that makes their heart sing.

“This is a chance for both hobbyists and working cake decorators to play and showcase our New Zealand talent. They can use novelty or classic tiered cake decorating for their technique. Both are an art within itself. Their art choices could be anything from a Jan Davidz de Heem floral still life to a fabulous line art and portraits by Alphonse Mucha. Their finished piece will be on display with an image of the original piece of art that inspired them.

“There are lots of things that cake decorators can do and those that want to sculpt can even recreate a 2D piece of art and make it 3D. They can have fun and enjoy it.”
