Mews upgrade elevates The Parnell

Mews upgrade The Parnell

Auckland’s The Parnell Hotel & Conference Centre has entered a new era of hospitality by transitioning from Clarity Hospitality to Mews, the award-winning operating system designed for modern hoteliers. The move reflects a growing wave of adoption across the Asia-Pacific region, with 1/5 of former Clarity customers already migrating since Mews acquired the company earlier this year.

Located in Auckland’s oldest suburb, The Parnell is a much-loved independent property featuring 101 rooms and apartments, as well as extensive conference and meeting facilities. While the hotel had long relied on Clarity, the team wanted a more unified solution to replace the patchwork of add-ons that had grown over time.

“With Mews, everything just works together seamlessly,” said Wayne Darbyshire, General Manager of The Parnell Hotel & Conference Centre. “It’s a single platform that’s intuitive, powerful, and keeps both our guests and our team happy.”

The implementation included Mews property management system (PMS) and point-of-sale (POS), quickly embraced by nearly 50 staff members. Key features such as automated workflows, real-time information and online pre-arrival check-in have already delivered significant time savings. The Parnell has also integrated Atomize RMS, the AI-powered revenue management tool being built within Mews, and plans further integrations including Mews EMS for event management, key card access, and guest self-service kiosks.

“Atomize has been fantastic,” added Mr Darbyshire. “It’s helping us optimise pricing, increase profitability, and free our team from manual revenue tasks.”

What sets The Parnell apart is its purpose-driven model. Owned by the Norman Barry Foundation, all surplus funds are donated to charity. Since 2008, the hotel has contributed over $2.7 million NZD to organizations such as KiwiNet, the Liggins Institute, Koi Tū, AL Rae Centre, and Blind and Low Vision NZ. By boosting operational efficiency and profitability with Mews, the hotel is also amplifying its ability to give back to New Zealand communities.

Matt Welle, CEO of Mews, emphasised the wider significance of the transition: “We’ve seen incredible growth across Australia and New Zealand since welcoming Clarity into the Mews family. The Parnell’s move is a powerful example of how technology can elevate hospitality while making a meaningful impact beyond business. With the right tools, hospitality becomes not just a great guest experience, but also a true force for good.”

As Mews continues to expand across APAC, The Parnell stands as a model of how modern technology can drive both exceptional guest satisfaction and lasting social impact.
