Mercure Queenstown Resort unveils modern makeover

rsz_mercure_queenstown_-_refurbished_room_-_resizeAccorHotels’ midscale accommodation offering in Queenstown has been taken to an even greater level of comfort and style following the completion of a $2.2 million refurbishment of Mercure Queenstown Resort’s Lake View rooms and public areas.

Mercure Queenstown’s 82 Lake View accommodation rooms have been given a significant makeover to greatly enhance the stunning views over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range, reflecting the hotel’s confidence in the market which is seeing increased demand from business events and leisure markets.

Specialist New Zealand design firm, Space Studio were entrusted with the project and their design vision has seen the  interior finishes and textures in the hotel reference the golden tussock of the Southland region and the granite and schist of the surrounding mountains.

The chic and contemporary rooms have been refreshed with new modern interiors and décor in soft relaxing hues to reflect the hotel’s serene outlook. Designer bed heads and rich toned cabinetry and plush bedding has been added along with cleverly-designed leisure furniture to maximise space.

Artworks in the hotel reference the beauty of the local area and in particular the golden aspects of the tussock and autumn colours alongside the rock and schist of the mountains.

Rooms are also fitted with new wifi connectivity ports, LCD TVs, Bluetooth audio compatibility, and a flexible work station for guests staying on business. New bathrooms are an uplifting feature complete with walk-in showers, large hand basins and LED mirror lighting.

In addition to the rooms refresh, Mercure Queenstown’s lobby has striking new furniture, carpets and bespoke lighting whilst still allowing the view to be the hero in the space, and the hotel hallways have been refresh to round out the refurbishment.

Mercure Queenstown Resort General Manager, Dean Daniels, said the hotel has received a positive reception from guests and has now been officially graded 4-star by Qualmark. “We’re absolutely thrilled that the guest reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, particularly from those who stay with us often. The new bathrooms are one of the biggest wow-factors aside from the lake views of course, and we’re really delighted with how the makeover seamlessly blends in with the hotel’s surroundings.

“The refurbishment has also meant the hotel has lifted its status with New Zealand tourism’s official mark of quality, Qualmark becoming a 4-star graded hotel, which is a welcome achievement.”

Renowned for having some of the best views in Queenstown, Mercure Queenstown Resort offers an excellent location three minutes’ drive from the CBD with an extensive range of leisure activities including a seasonal swimming pool, spa pool, sauna, gymnasium and ski/boot drying room. Popular with leisure and business travellers, the hotel is also a great option for conferences, team building retreats, weddings and other special events.
