Queenstown opens first new hotel in five years

rsz_ramada_queenstown_official_openingQueenstown’s newest hotel, Ramada Hotels & Suites Queenstown Remarkables Park, hasofficially opened with a celebration attended by the companies behind the development and local political leaders.

With an influx of overseas tourists spending an incredible $1.18 billion locally in the year to March 2015 – second only to Auckland – the need for hotel rooms in Queenstown to keep up with demand has been well-documented.

The 54-room hotel is located in the Remarkables Park Town Centre, within walking distance of the airport, driving distance of the world-class Remarkables and Coronet Peak ski fields, and in close proximity to the heart of Queenstown. Ramada Queenstown Remarkables Park is a franchise agreement with New Zealand developer Robert Neil’s Safari Group and is managed by Marsden Asset Management Group.

President and Managing Director Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim, Barry Robinson, said the hotel is ideally positioned to satisfy demand from leisure and business guests. “With tourist numbers to New Zealand forecast to increase by 50 per cent by 2025, we see New Zealand as an important destination for us.

“This is the seventh Ramada to open in New Zealand and I would like to extend by congratulations to the entire team behind the opening of the hotel.”

Monday’s official opening was attended by Mr Robinson; Todd Barclay MP, the sitting Member for Clutha-Southland; Robert Neil, Founder and Director of Safari Group; Michael Osborne, Managing Director of Marsden Asset Management; and Benjamin Trotter, Managing Director of BT Group.

The four-star Ramada Queenstown Remarkables Park offers well-appointed studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments with ensuite bathrooms, full kitchens, laundry facilities and LCD TV and SKY channels. The hotel also features a 24-hour gym, free Wi-Fi, ski gear storage room and complimentary parking.

Mr Trotter said the hotel has already welcomed guests during the busy winter season and has received positive feedback. “Ramada is one of the world’s most recognised hotel brands and Marsden Asset Management is actively delivering guests the exceptional experiences the brand is famous for worldwide,” he said.

Robert Neil, director of the project’s highly experienced developer, Safari group said: “The construction of Ramada Hotel & Suites Remarkables Park went smoothly with strong interest in the serviced apartments. This exciting development is ideal for visitors flying in and out of Queenstown, and the longer stay market for those taking advantage of all Remarkables Park and the wider region has to offer.

“We have further developments in Remarkables Park which will be announced soon.”

With a portfolio of nearly 8,000 hotels globally, Wyndham Hotel Group is the world’s most diverse hotel company – and largest based on number of hotels.
