The Rees Hotel Queenstown has announced its first True South Culinary Series Dinner for the year will be held on 1 April 2016, partnering with Misha’s Vineyard Wines, one of New Zealand’s top 20 producers.
Ben Batterbury, Executive Chef at The Rees Hotel who has been pairing food with Misha’s Vineyard wines for some years now, will bring his finely honed culinary skills to craft an eight course degustation menu from the best of Central Otago’s produce, to complement a selection of eight exquisite wines from Misha’s Vineyard vintages.
Ben, Executive Chef at The Rees since 2009, is a multi award winning culinary expert with a polished repertoire that includes French and English fusion recipes mingled with the flavours of New Zealand. Ben has a love of using supreme quality ingredients and seasonal Southern produce he personally sources from local producers wherever possible.
To celebrate Misha’s Vineyards 10th vintage milestone, Andy and Misha Wilkinson, estate owners, and winemaker Olly Masters, one of New Zealand’s most acclaimed winemakers and judges, will delve into their library stocks to showcase their entire range of wines, sharing the best varietal across 9 vintages. This stunning array of wines will include the first wine ever produced from their site, (which was never offered for sale), an array of wines that have won some of the highest international accolades and wines that have been designated ‘classic wines’ of New Zealand (see wine list below).
