“Roast dinners are one of the easiest things to cook and have success with,” says Wickes. “There’s a recipe to suit every taste on the website and you can also download for free the entire 2014 e-cookbook to use as your very own companion in the kitchen.”

“And don’t forget to vote for your favourite celebrity’s recipe. Shane Cortese, Leah Panapa and Leigh Hart are all competing for your vote and the winner gets $5,000 to donate to his or her chosen charity.”

Leah’s charity is SPCA. Shane has two, The Breast Cancer Research Trust and Children’s Autism Foundation and Leigh’s is Mangawhai Surf Life Saving. Right now with nearly 6,000 votes counted, Leah is just in the lead, her roast chicken with couscous and kumara salad has plainly tickled the nation’s taste-buds.

If you’re looking for inspiration, Selaks has created the Roast Day aisle at the Auckland Food Show. from 31 July to 3 August where guests can purchase their favourite roast day ingredients and match their roast menu with Selaks Wines.

Selaks has a strong presence at the annual food exhibition as a white wine sponsor in the Whirlpool cooking theatre and with the Selaks Wine Bar in the new Pop Up Eatery where guests can purchase food and wine by the glass.

2014 Roast Day ambassador chef, Nici Wickes says for those who can’t make it to the food show, the Selaks NZ Roast Day website is a great source for recipe inspiration.

Now in its fifth year, Selaks NZ Roast Day in 2014 coincides with the proud wine company’s 80th anniversary celebrations.
