$10,000 prize for top Tourism Industry Award winner

The Supreme Award winner in this year’s New Zealand Tourism Industry Awards will receive a prize valued at up to $10,000, together with the prestige of winning the $24 billion industry’s highest accolade.

“The Supreme Award is being sponsored by Air New Zealand, and we are delighted they are offering such a generous prize,” says Chris Roberts, Chief Executive of the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA), which runs the awards.

“I am also very pleased to announce Air New Zealand and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, two of the industry’s most influential stakeholders, as our Event Partners.”

Mr Roberts says the reinvigorated awards programme will recognise those individuals, businesses and organisations that are helping reach the Tourism 2025 goal of almost doubling annual tourism industry revenue to $41 billion by 2025.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon says the airline is proud to sponsor the 2015 New Zealand Tourism Industry Awards.

The winner of the Air New Zealand Supreme Tourism Industry Award will receive international air travel to any Air New Zealand destination in North America, South America or Asia valued at up to $10,000 to help them grow their tourism business.

Lisa Barrett, General Manager of Tourism, Sectors, Regions and Cities at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is pleased to confirm MBIE will be an Event Partner for the 2015 Tourism Industry Awards.

“This is a great opportunity to show MBIE’s support for the industry and recognise the success of tourism businesses and individuals within the sector. We look forward to being part of this important industry celebration.”

Entry registration for this year’s new and expanded awards programme closes on 17 July. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland on 2 October. Tickets for the dinner will be on sale shortly.
