Aucklanders get ready for The Crab Shack

Beloved in Wellington, it’s only right that the ultimate ‘bibs and fingers’ seafood experience now has a home in Auckland too. The Crab Shack Auckland will open on Princes Wharf in the former Leftfield Bar site, overlooking the central ferry terminal in early February 2015. This is the ninth eatery for The Nourish Group.

crabshack-logoThe Crab Shack Wellington on Queens Wharf has seen Wellingtonians come in their droves. For Auckland, the owners are taking it to the next level: “bigger, cooler, more outdoor/indoor flow, fast-paced and with an epic outdoor bar”.

They are a coastal, Cape Cod themed casual dining and drinking experience, so expect an unique menu with a few surprises as well as some firm favourites. Specialising in seafood with a special emphasis on crab yet including other fabulous meals, “By the Scoop”, “From the Earth”, “From the Charcoal Barrel” are all options on their menu. Pick from a scoop of Cloudy Bay clams, mussels or tuatua with an array of sauces, get your laughing gear around a Shack Burger or crack a leg of King Crab.

The hugely talented Alfredo Icedo Romero has come on board as Head Chef, creating “a menu of perfect simplicity where kiwis’ love of seafood is king”. Think high quality ingredients – from our shores, fresh to the table – with Kiwi and Southern American inspired cuisine delivered by a young, dynamic team ready to expertly educate diners in all things crab.
