Superb food and wine is one of life’s great pleasures so keep your calendar free for a week-long celebration of food and wine in Auckland from August 27 to September 3.

Each event listed below has its own unique theme and a menu prepared by executive chef Volker Marecek.

Orsini jewel-inspired afternoon tea (Wednesday, August 27)

A champagne afternoon tea will accompany a display of jewels handmade in Italy, hosted by Sarah Hutchings of Orsini Fine Jewellery. The Langham’s master tea sommelier Benjamin McManus will be on hand to share some tea secrets too.

Gourmet kitchen: An evening with Des Harris and Volker Marecek (Thursday, August 28)

Des Harris of Clooney and Volker Marecek will team up to execute an exciting five course degustation. Join them and indulge in a special glass of Louis Roederer Cristal, Champagne 2006.

Feel good food lunch with Jason Shon Bennett (Friday, Aug 29)

Enjoy a healthy two-course lunch prepared by Volker Marecek and a wellbeing seminar presented by international health researcher and author Jason Shon Bennett.

A walk on the wild side (Saturday, Aug 30)

Indulge in a selection of wild game in Eight restaurant served in a variety of ways and sample some less-common treats such as pheasant, guinea fowl, partridge, hare, venison and wild boar. Wine tasting will be on offer at the Chef’s Table.

A Taste of Europe (Wednesday, Sep 3)

Transport yourself to Europe for a night and sample specialty wines, beers, gins, ports champagnes, liqueurs, whisky and vodka to name a few. Each is served with a matching taster plate, alongside great entertainment.
