Choice Hotels raise $12,000 for Cystic Fibrosis

Choice Hotels has raised an impressive $12,000 with their first Take a Breath for CF fundraising week held in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand (CFANZ).

rsz_grace_graphicTo support their official NZ charity partner, the campaign encouraged Kiwis to take a ‘breather’ and stay at a NZ Choice Hotel between 8-14 June. From every stay during the week, $2 was donated directly to CFANZ.

“We’re delighted with the result from the campaign,” says CFANZ national fundraising and event manager, Caroline Wagteveld McKenzie. “The money raised will go towards supporting our three field workers and the fantastic work they do travelling the country to help people with Cystic Fibrosis.”

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease affecting many organs in the body, especially the lungs and pancreas. For people with Cystic Fibrosis, it means frequent and serious chest infections, multiple hospital stays, up to 15,000 pills each year, an inability to digest food and an average life expectancy of just 35 years.

“We’re excited to be able to hand over this sort of money to the Association,” says Choice Hotels’ marketing manager, Matt Taylor. “We’re grateful to all of our properties around NZ for getting behind the campaign and helping us to support this deserving and hard-working charity. We’re continually trying to think of ways to raise funds for CFANZ and are so pleased that this campaign was successful. We will be sure to run this again!”

Choice Hotels recently announced a two-year extension of their partnership with the Association and will continue to substantially lower travel costs for them by providing free room nights at their properties around New Zealand.
