DB and Gull recognised at the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards

rsz_gull_dbDB Breweries and Gull have jointly won the Renewables Innovation Award for their ‘DB Export Brewtroleum’ initiative at the NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards held at Shed 10 on Auckland’s waterfront last week.

The NZI Sustainable Business Network (SBN) judges were impressed with Brewtroleum saying that, “The Brewtroleum initiative is a great use of a waste product, and the combined efforts between DB and Gull and their highly charged marketing campaign managed to generate demand for the product, and raise the profiles of the companies bringing renewable energy closer to the mainstream.

“DB Breweries and Gull were innovative in their use of the circular economy, finding creative efficiencies that fire the imagination.”

Andy Routley, DB Breweries Managing Director, said that winning the Renewables Innovation Award for DB Export Brewtroleum was an honour. “It was fantastic to be recognised amongst our peers at last night’s award evening, especially since the other finalists in our category were all excellent initiatives. A special thanks to our partners Gull for their hard work on the Brewtroleum project, without them we wouldn’t have been able to get this idea off the ground.”

The NZI Sustainable Business Network (SBN) Awards are New Zealand’s longest-standing and pre-eminent sustainability awards. The awards are now in their 13th year and are designed to recognise businesses that are making a real difference by innovating New Zealand’s business landscape.

Embedding sustainability has long been a business priority for DB Breweries and it is brought to life through our Brewing a Better World strategy.
