HAWKE’S BAY HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY RECOGNISES IT’S BEST

rsz_craggy-range-winery-hawkes-bay-nz-mediumThe exceptional people and establishments that make up the hospitality industry in Hawke’s Bay have been announced at the ninth annual Hawke’s Bay Hospitality Awards.

The awards are presented by the Restaurant Association of New Zealand a membership organisation serving restaurant and hospitality businesses nationwide.  The association run a number of these awards in regions around the country.

A record number of votes were received this year, an endorsement that the industry values the awards as a means to support and recognise each other and are a real tribute to the calibre of talent within Hawke’s Bay hospitality.  Tried and true favourites were crowned winners alongside some new faces and places making a significant impact on dining options.

Restaurant Association Chief Executive Marisa Bidois said “with so many talented operators and dedicated hospitality professionals in the region each category was keenly contested and we congratulate the winners on a job well done.”

Chef James Beck and his team at Bistronomy who picked up two awards said “we’re really stoked with these awards! Myself and the whole team have put a big effort into giving Hawke’s Bay something new and fresh and this recognition by our colleagues in the industry means a lot!  So a big thanks to the Restaurant Association for putting it together, to those who voted for us, but most off all to the bistronomy team…they rock, they are true bistronomers!!

Ms Bidois said “Under the stewardship of the Restaurant Association and with the valued support of industry partners, the awards are an important platform to highlight the region’s successes and to acknowledge the industry’s achievements”.

The Hawke’s Bay Branch of the Restaurant Association is extremely proud of all the Restaurants, Cafe’s, Bars and Wineries that make up our unique and vibrant industry. President Sean Burns said “the winners reflect the dynamic and diverse businesses that the Hawke’s Bay community has to choose from. The awards are a very important event for our local industry and all the hospitality owners and staff would like to thank the sponsors that support our efforts and helped make these awards such a fantastic celebration.’’

The winners were announced in front of a sell-out crowd of over 300 hospitality staff at an awards ceremony at the MTG Century Theatre and afterwards enjoyed the chance to catch up with their colleagues at an industry party at Shed 2, Ahuriri.
