Three of New Zealand’s sporting heroes Sarah Walker, Lisa Carrington and Eliza McCartney are gearing up to announce New Zealand’s top restaurants. Restaurants across the nation will be announced as 2017 recipients of the Beef and Lamb Excellence Awards on December 6,  in Auckland.

As the nation’s longest running culinary accolades, now in their 21st year, the Excellence Awards recognise the skill, talent and expertise of chefs around the country who consistently present high quality beef and lamb dishes at their restaurants.

Over the past few months, culinary trained experts have anonymously assessed each restaurant twic,  based on factors such as presentation, taste, degree of cooking and the overall appeal of their beef and lamb dishes.

Come December 6, a gold plate will mark those restaurants who have reached the desired standard of the Beef and Lamb Excellence Award.

“Beef and lamb are iconic to New Zealand and the Excellence Awards highlight exactly where locals and visitors can go for an exceptional meal outside their own homes – be it fine-dining or somewhere more casual,” says Moloney.

“We are also able to celebrate the skill level of our chefs; as with our Iron Maidens who will be presenting the award holders, these chefs are among the best in the world and they do our country proud.”The 2017 Beef + Lamb New Zealand five Ambassador Chefs will also be revealed next month. These five chefs have proven to be at the pinnacle of beef and lamb cookery.
