Path of the Gods (Me with pack)

Our walk from Amalfi to Positano took in the famed ‘Path of the Gods’ which was as hot as hell but with heavenly views as we made our way along clifftop rocky paths overlooking the Sorrento-Amalfi coast.

En route we met up with a couple from the UK and decided to celebrate her birthday in Positano with something a step up from pizza or a bowl of pasta. So we found ourselves dining at Al Palazzo restaurant in  beautiful candle-lit courtyard garden where we toasted our new found friendship with a crisp chilled prosecco and enjoyed fresh Italian food served with a modern twist.

An amuse-bouche consisted of a small ball of herbed seabass, fried and served on a little green ocean of salsa verde. Other delights included starters of seared scallops with tiny asparagus spears, and zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese mousse and served with herbed tomato salsa. A course of lobster-filled ravioli served with clams and then pan-fried sea bass on eggplant puree took us to the point of declining dessert. But we opted for coffee and somehow managed to nibble on petit fours of mini pistachio biscotti and bite-size meringues.

It wasn’t a cheap meal but the price was reflected in the quality and the exceptional service. A meal and a night to remember.
