Front and centre of the 2015 Luxury Collection is the inaugural release of pinnacle Shiraz, The Pioneer. Named after Bill Taylor, Taylors The Pioneer Clare Valley Shiraz 2012 is a blend of estate grown fruit from the family’s exceptional Clare Valley vineyard blocks. Grapes were harvested and crushed before maturation in first use fine grain American oak barrels and a selection of one, two and three year old fine grain American oak barrels. Prior to bottling, a painstaking barrel selection was undertaken for each of the individual components.
Taylors The Visionary Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 honours Bill Taylor Senior, who with sons Bill and John, established Taylors Wines in 1969. Fruit from six exceptional Clare Valley vineyard blocks makes up this wine. New Zealand is the first country in the world to receive the 2011 release of The Visionary on the back of the inaugural release selling out here last year.
The Pioneer and The Visionary are in made in limited quantities and only in exceptional vintages. Each bottle is hand labelled, hand numbered and packaged in a prestige gift box accompanied by a hand sewn individual booklet detailing the history, vintage conditions, vinification and maturation.
Company Director, Asia Pacific Market Manager and third generation family member Justin Taylor is visiting New Zealand this week to introduce the wines.
The Pioneer and The Visionary are the foundations of Taylors Luxury Collection, which includes St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon and St Andrews Shiraz. Aztec sales data for the 12 months to 5 July 2015 shows St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are both experiencing triple digit growth. St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon is achieving 177 per cent growth, while St Andrews Shiraz is growing at 134 per cent. This gives the St Andrews range combined growing of 320 per cent.
