The Honourable Order of International Hotel General Managers Appoints CEO

rsz_hoihgm_j_cameronThe newly launched Honourable Order of International Hotel General Managers (HOIHGm) has announced the appointment of John Cameron as Chief Executive Officer. An experienced hospitality executive, John has a strong international background in operations and HR gathered across Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

As the world’s first and only initiative of its kind, HOIHGm, is the association for International Hotel General Managers designed to raise their profile, whilst providing a range of professional and personal membership benefits, such as portable healthcare and insurance options. John will oversee the day-to-day operations with a focus on adding value for members by developing a Career Management Centre, a network of industry partnerships and improving the value proposition for members by increasing the portfolio of benefits including retirement and pension planning.

John has worked in the international hotel industry for twenty-three years, beginning his career with ITT Sheraton in 1987. He held the position of Vice President with responsibility across the Asia Pacific region for Human Resources and Administration and was also involved in numerous hotel openings across the Asia Pacific region.

In 2001 he joined InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) as Vice President Human Resources for Asia Pacific, prior to moving to the UK in 2003 as senior Vice President Human Resources for the Europe, Africa regions, Middle East region (EAME). Before leaving IHG to return to Australia, he held the position of Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations EAME.
