Two Wellington Hotels first to join Enviro-Mark

Two Wellington hotels – Comfort Hotel Wellington and Quality Hotel Wellington – are the first in New Zealand to join the Enviro- Mark® programme and become bronze certified.

The hotels are under the same management as a part of the CQ Hotels complex, and occupy adjacent sites along Wellington’s iconic Cuba Street. Olivier Lacoua, general manager of CQ Hotels, says the property joined the programme to ensure it continues to improve and monitor its environmental performance.

Enviro-Mark is a leading New Zealand environment management system programme that provides members with all the resources needed to implement a credible environmental management system.

The programme involves a five-step journey to improving a company’s environmental performance, with organisations starting at ‘Bronze’ and working their way up to the top certification of ‘Diamond’.

The hotel complex has had a run of praise: last week it was presented with a Good Business Egg Award for its commitment to community health, including its relationship with organisations working with disabled people, its response to the recent Wellington earthquake, and its Gold star BE.ACCESSIBLE rating for accessibility to and within the hotels.
