Havelock seafood festival to include record mussel opening attempt

Six thousand tickets are available for the 13th Havelock seafood festival.

Masterchef winners Kasey and Karena Bird will be cooking up a storm at the 13th Annual Mussel and Seafood Festival at the Havelock Domain on Saturday March 18.

The park is in the heart of Havelock and the organisers say 6000 tickets are available.  Green lip mussels are the star of the show, along with the regions’ other seafood delights including salmon and clams.

The skilled team from Guytons will conduct  fish filleting demonstrations, and the annual world record mussel opening attempt will be made. The festival  highlights the local aquaculture industry and all profits go back into the local community. Over the past 12 years over $280 000 has been distributed to local community groups.

For those travelling by ferry from the North Island there will be a bus available in Picton to deliver ( and return) attendees to the festival. Tickets are available from www.iTicket.co.nz
